Doily Heart Ornaments

This is another fun way to use my new favorite fabric. Let’s make some Doily Heart Ornaments! You can find a kit here or just the wooden heart here if you want to add your own creative spin. You can also create your own version of this with foam board or cardboard. The only limit is your imagination! Let’s get started.

 

Gather your supplies! Paint or paint pens, glitter, modpodge, scissors and iron.

Use the center heart sticker to make a template for your fabric heart - if you are NOT using our kit.

You'll need a fabric scrap and a bit of iron-on adhesive for the center heart applique. Trace the heart onto the back of your fabric applique and cut.

Voila! Fabric heart applique is done.

Peel off the paper backing an iron in place.

I use the cotton setting - for about 10-15 seconds.

Take your valentine applique and position it in the center of the heart.

Iron the valentine applique in place.

The ironing is all done! It’s time to embellish your ornament. 

Peel the masking off the edge of the heart.

Paint the edge of the heart.

I used an acrylic paint pen. Less messy and dries quick!

All done!

Once your paint is dry, brush some mod-podge around the edge of the heart,

Add some glitter...

Sparkly!

For good measure I sealed the entire ornament with modpodge and let dry for a few hours.

There you have it! Fun, sparkly Valentine’s Day ornaments you can use to decorate your home or gift to your Valentine.
